Lewis is an Associate in Clyde & Co's London office in the Insurance, Financial and Professional Disputes department. Lewis commenced training with the firm in 2021, and qualified as a solicitor in 2023.
Lewis is an insurance coverage specialist, advising both the London market and international insurers on notifications, coverage and (re)insurance disputes across all directors’ and officers’ and financial lines liability insurance. He has claims experience across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa. In particular, Lewis has experience advising insurers on complex coverage considerations and monitoring claims in relation to regulatory, civil and criminal proceedings and investigations, including multi-jurisdictional files. He has represented and advised clients on complex (re)insurance disputes and arbitrations both in London and internationally. Lewis has also assisted clients on their harmonisation of insurance policies, policy drafting and in understanding the operation of certain policy provisions.
To date, Lewis has acted on claims relating to financial institutions, directors' and officers' (SME and large account), management liability, professional indemnity, financial crime and media insurance.
Lewis gained further expense in adjusting claims, while on secondment in the Financial Lines claims team at a large international insurer, in London for 7 months. Separately, he worked for 6 months at a large international insurance broker, building his knowledge of the London Market.
Experience
- A multi-jurisdictional coverage dispute, representing a GBP 57m tower, in respect of an underlying litigation with a quantum in excess of EUR 100m.
- Advising civil liability insurers in respect of complex financial lines coverage issues, including but not limited to SIPP transfers, Pensions advice and Securities transfers.
- Advising on a Reinsurance dispute in an international jurisdiction with a quantum in excess of GBP 10m.
- Assisting a multi-national corporation on harmonisation of insurance policies, by reviewing multiple D&O insurance programs across jurisdictions and layers.
- Advising insurer clients in respect of policy wording and the operation of various policy provisions.
