Paul is a Legal Director in the Marine and International Trade Department at Clyde & Co, and has been at the firm since 2010. Paul relocated to Clyde & Co's Singapore office in 2019.
Paul’s main area of practice is international commercial dispute resolution, with a strong focus on shipping and international trade matters. Paul advises on disputes under charterparties, bills of lading, bunker contracts, commodity sale contracts and shipbuilding contracts for a wide range of clients, including shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs, pool operators, bunker traders, commodity traders and shipyards. Paul has particular experience advising clients based in the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore and Korea, and has spent six months on secondment to the FD&D department of a leading international group P&I Club.
Paul has handled disputes in a wide range of international arbitration centres, in addition to ad hoc arbitrations, and has also managed litigation in the English High Court. In addition, Paul has considerable experience of advising on complex cross border matters, including where jurisdiction is an issue in dispute, and regularly works with correspondent lawyers with the aim of achieving the best overall outcome for clients.
In addition to advising on disputes, Paul advises on non-contentious and transactional issues, including on the wording of contracts.
