William is an associate in Clyde & Co’s global projects and construction group. 

William works on a range of contentious and transactional matters relating to construction and engineering projects, as well as on general commercial and corporate disputes, in the UK and internationally. 

William has practical experience of international arbitration under major institutional rules, including the ICC and LCIA, and in English high court litigation. 

William represents UK based and international clients (including governments and large multinationals) based in the UK, Europe, Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. 

William has a strong interest in international climate law and policy. As a trainee he led Clyde & Co’s climate change group and has spoken at internal and external events about his experience as a lawyer working in the climate space. William volunteers with various climate and international law pro bono clients including Legal Response International (LRI), with whom he traveled to Egypt to act as a Liaison Officer at COP27 and assist their provision of free legal advice to delegates and negotiators.

Prior to joining the Clyde & Co, William worked in international human rights law, working on rule of law capacity building projects in the Western Balkans.

  • Acting for an employer in an ICC arbitration regarding a major road project in East Africa.
  • Successfully defending a claim in an ICC arbitration relating to an energy project in the Middle East for a major European oilfield services company. 
  • Acting for a large multinational energy supplier in an international arbitration regarding a major port project in Latin America.
  • Acting for a South-East Asian energy company in an ICC arbitration with a North African state-owned entity regarding exploration and production rights.
  • Advising a large Asian multinational engineering and construction company regarding performance bonds in connection with a major energy project in Latin America.
  • Advising a project company on remedial works relating to a major tunnel infrastructure project in the UK.
  • Advising a large international offshore engineering company on a contract for cable laying on a large offshore windfarm project in Asia.   
  •  Advising on operational variations at PFI hospital projects in the UK.
