Andrés is a Colombian qualified lawyer from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and an LLM from University College London (UCL).
Before joining Clyde & Co Andrés practiced at Palacios Lleras (2010-2013) and Arrieta Mantilla y Asociados (2015-2017), two highly regarded boutique law firms in Colombia where he acquired a wide experience in administrative and commercial litigation and the handling regulatory investigations and proceedings in the telecoms, mining, ports, and utilities sectors before entities such as the Contraloría General de la República, Cormagdalena, Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Transport, Agencia Nacional de Infraestructura, Utilities Regulatory Commissions and Superintendencies among others.
Andrés joined Clyde & Co in May 2017, and has focused on insurance and reinsurance litigation in high value financial institutions claims, and in particular is advising London reinsurers in some of the most high profile regulatory and criminal investigations being pursued in Colombia.
Andres co-authors the chapter on Colombia in The Insurance and Reinsurance Law Review.

Advising D&O insurers on a claim arising from cost overruns in the construction of a major Colombian refinery resulting in losses of over US$6bn.
Acting for London market reinsurers in a professional indemnity claim arising from mismanagement of the fund set up for waste collection services in the city of Bogotá.
Acting for London market reinsurers in a US$300m professional indemnity claim arising from the collapse of the Colombian domestic lending system in 1999.
Acting for London market reinsurers in a series of fidelity claims arising from the collapse of major Colombian stockbroker, including proceedings before the Colombian Audit Office and both the Civil and Criminal Courts.
Advising D&O insurers on a claim arising from competition authorities’ investigation into the alleged abuse of dominant position by subsidiaries of a multinational company in Colombia.
Advising London reinsurers on the Colombian law aspects in a claim by a Colombian charter company with an US$8m loss involving an alleged seizure by the government of Afghanistan.
