Contact Details

Janet is a partner in Clyde & Co’s tax group and is based in the Dubai office. She leads the firm's Middle East tax offering. Janet advises multinational and regional corporations, private equity groups, investment funds and high net worth individuals on a broad range of tax issues including international tax structuring, tax advisory, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) tax, tax rulings and tax disputes.

Janet has advised a number of clients operating in the education, energy and national resources, healthcare, hospitality and leisure, retail and consumer, real estate, trade and commodities, and technology sectors. 

Janet is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Malaysia and is admitted to the Bar of England and Wales. She graduated with a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from the BPP University Law School in London, UK in 2013, and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the University of Manchester, UK in 2011.

Janet is recognised by World Tax as a Women in Tax Leader and awarded the Tax Lawyer of the Year by Lexis Nexis Middle East Women in Law for two consecutive years in 2024 and 2025. 

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Janet worked at one of the largest regional law firms in the Middle East for over seven years. She also worked at a global law firm in Malaysia and a Magic Circle firm in London, United Kingdom.

Janet is fluent in English and Malay.

  • Advising leading major oil and gas companies in the UAE and Oman on their USD 500 million sale of a long-standing player in the regional shipping and maritime industry.*
  • Advising FIVE Holdings on the UAE tax aspects of its debut bond offering of USD 350 million green notes.*
  • Advising a UAE government-established charitable foundation on the cross-border tax implications arising from outbound investments into private equity funds in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany and Netherlands.*
  • Advising a Big Four Firm on the cross-border tax issues arising from a major restructuring of their audit, tax and consulting businesses across the GCC.*
  • Advising major international luxury retailer on the tax aspects of their operations in the UAE and wider Middle East region.*
  • Advising multinational corporations on the impact of the newly introduced UAE corporate tax regime, in particular analysing the Qualifying Free Zone Person (QFZP) status and interaction with the OECD Pillar Two rules.*
  • Advising one of the world’s largest global software corporations on various tax matters in the Middle East and North African region, including income tax and withholding tax litigation, mutual agreement procedure, tax residency, and business model review.*
  • Advising multiple international investment firms, fund managers and fund administrators on the cross-border tax considerations covering the whole life cycle of an investment fund.*
