Michael is a partner of our associated office in Chile, based in Santiago and is one of the founders of Grasty Quintana Majlis, over 30 years ago.  In his extensive career as an attorney he has participated in diverse areas of expertise including IT – he was founder, CEO and President of Oracle Chile, Energy – he represented PowerGen in their first incursions in Latin America – Agro Industry, acting for BP Nutrition in their investment in the salmon industry, Telecommunications and IT – representing Qualcomm Inc., retail business – representing Kodak until they left the market,  Mining – representing Chevron, Dayton and Vale do Rio Doce in their mining projects, and many others.  Lately he has also become involved in conservation and environmental issues, was responsible for introducing and creating the Chilean version of and environmental easement and is currently President of Fundacion Tierra Austral, the most important local land trust.  He also acted as advisor to the Pew Environmental Group in their Global Ocean Legacy project in Easter Island.  He was a director and President of the American Chamber of Commerce from where he was responsible for developing strong relations between international NGO´s and the local industrial community especially in the forestry sector.  He currently acts as Director of Empresas Tattersall, an important Agro Business related group of companies, President of David del Curto, the largest Chilean fruit export company, Director of Sparta Deportes, the largest sports retail group, member of the advisory board of WWF, councillor of the Beacheads Program of the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

  • Represented the Solari family in the Falabella Sodimac joint venture
  • Advised Pew in their Global Ocean Legacy project for Easter Island
  • President of the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce
  • Organizer of the Chilean version of the Jessup Moot Court Trial
  • Responsible for the introduction of the Chilean version of the environmental easement (DRC)
  • Responsible for implementing the tax structure for certain high net worth individuals
