Full Profile

Robert is an experienced Healthcare and Inquest Associate at Clyde & Co in the London Office, joining the firm in March 2026 from another national firm.

His work focuses on advocacy in legally and factually complex multi-party inquest hearings for healthcare and care home clients. He also advises on mental capacity law including Court of Protection litigation, as well as a wide range of healthcare regulatory matters including regulatory investigations, internal serious incident investigations, and policy formulation.

Since qualifying in 2022, Robert has excelled in inquest advocacy guiding professional witnesses and healthcare organisations through the coronial process ensuring they give evidence with confidence and precision. In this field Robert has represented NHS Trusts, prison healthcare services, private hospitals, care homes, and GP practices, as well as individual doctors and nurses. He also has experience in Fitness to Practice investigations and Medical Practitioners Tribunal hearings.

Experience

The case required 9 organisations and individuals to be identified as Interested Persons, 6 Pre-Inquest Review Hearings over three and a half years following instruction, and some 40 witnesses called to the final hearing of whom 10 were from the client. Legal and factual complexities focused on application of the Mental Health Act 1983 in the context of ongoing criminal justice processes for very serious criminal charges, and advising on Prevention of Future Deaths notices with concerns arising on a national scale.
  • Advised an NHS Trust in multiple inquests relating to the mental health-related deaths of prisoners sentenced under Imprisonment for Public Protection tariffs.
  • Advised a care home in an inquest involving a resident collapsing at home subsequent to unclear, but potentially very high dosage of anaesthetic in hospital a week prior.
