Michael Hung

Michael joined Clyde & Co in 2016 as a trainee solicitor in the Hong Kong office. During his training, Michael has gained a wide range of experience in professional liability litigation, corporate insurance and regulatory matters. He was also seconded to the marine team in the firm's UK office acting for marine insurers in handling marine cargo casualty, including vessel collision and cargo recovery claims.

In 2018, Michael qualified into Personal Injuries and Insurance team.  He acts for insurers in employees' compensation, personal injury, motor and public liability claims.  He also advises insurers on policy issues, including policy coverage, double insurance, under-insurance and repudiation of policy liability due to breach of policy conditions.

In addition, Michael acted for contractor in industrial summonses relating to health and safety.

Michael also advises on non-contentious life insurance matters, including policy coverage and policy validity.

Experience

• Insurance policy – Advising insurers on double insurance, under-insurance, non-report and late notification issues. Successfully sought contribution from the insureds and co-insurers.
• Insurance policy – Advising life insurer on policy validity and false declaration.
• Insurance claim – Advising insurers on contribution proceedings against co-defendants in employees' compensation, personal injury, motor and public liability claims. Successfully sought contribution regarding claim and costs from co-defendants.
• Labour summons – Acting for contractor in defending various industrial summonses brought by the Labour Department. Successfully persuaded prosecution to drop charges.
