Stewart is an Associate in the Employment Team of our London office. He is a Scottish qualified solicitor who, since qualifying as in 2014, has focussed almost exclusively on Employment law.
Stewart advises clients across a range of industries and sectors in relation to the full range of employment law issues including discrimination, breach of contract, directors’ duties, disciplinary and grievance processes, redundancy, and TUPE.
Stewart is an experienced litigator and has extensive experience in the employment tribunal. He has conducted tribunal advocacy in several multi-day high profile cases involving issues including complex discrimination claims, unfair dismissal, redundancy selection, and contractual issues. He is also regularly involved in judicial mediation and arbitration.
Stewart lectures employment law at Strathclyde University. He regularly provides training to clients and is the author of legal publications.
Experience
Successfully defended public body against allegations of direct sex discrimination.
Successfully defended a Care Home in an unfair dismissal case involving breaches of COVID-19 regulations;
Advised on employment and director duties during acquisition of energy company;
Advising clients in relation to large scale redundancy and TUPE process;
Advising clients on how to change the terms and conditions of whole work force contracts;
Drafting and advising on employment contracts, HR policies and procedures
