Tim is a Junior Associate based in the Manchester office, having joined the firm in October 2021. He has recently qualified into the National Professional Indemnity team.

Tim specialises in defending professional negligence claims and acts on behalf of a range of professionals, including solicitors, surveyors, accountants, architects, and construction specialists. Prior to joining the firm, he spent nine years handling complex, litigated commercial disputes.

Experience

• Acting in the defence of a £700,000 professional negligence claim against solicitors, arising from an alleged failure to draft an effective Deed of Easement.
• Defending a £12 million claim against solicitors, which was successfully struck out.
• Representing accountants in a £600,000 claim involving allegations of negligence in relation to their response to banking fraud.
• Representing insurers in the Court of Appeal in Rashid v Direct Savings Ltd, a significant case concerning the operation of the Third Parties (Rights Against Insurers) Act 2010, in particular the effect of insolvency on limitation periods for third-party claims.
• Acting for insurers of cavity wall insulation installers in the defence of litigated claims alleging damp and related property damage resulting from defective installation.
• Advising insurers operating under delegated authority schemes in relation to a range of pre-litigated professional negligence claims against solicitors.
