Chen Jing was called to the Singapore bar in 2024 and is currently an Associate in the Singapore office’s Energy, Marine and Natural Resources team. She has experience in a variety of complex, high-value commercial disputes, including international trade / sale of goods disputes, charterparty disputes, cargo claims, marine insurance claims, collisions and ship arrests. 

Experience

• Acted for Owners in LMAA arbitration against Charterers for claims arising out of the detention of a vessel due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
• Acted for Charterers to arrest a vessel in its claim against the Master for the torts of conversion and detinue in the Singapore High Court. 
• Acted for Owners in a claim for damage arising from an allision in the Singapore High Court.
• Acted for Owners in a suit against multiple ship suppliers involving claims for fraud and breach of director's duties in the Singapore High Court. 
• Acted for oil and gas traders in a suit against buyers concerning claims for loss of profits and loss of chance arising out of the buyer’s non-acceptance of cargo in the Singapore High Court.
• Advised on a marine cargo insurance claim brought by cargo interests for damage, consequential losses and demurrage pursuant to the Institute Cargo Clauses.
