Marjolein studied Dutch Law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She obtained a Master’s degree in Private Law, with honours, in 1991. Marjolein specialises in liability and insurance law. She advises and litigates on a wide range of matters, including professional liability of lawyers, real estate agents, investment fund managers and insurance intermediaries (particularly cases related to unit-linked life insurance policies), coverage disputes concerning for example D&O insurances and Construction-Design-insurances, construction-related damages, personal injury and more general liability issues.
Marjolein gives internal courses at our offices at regular intervals, and she is one of the lecturers in the Insurance Law Programme at the University of Amsterdam on the topic of the direct action in insurance law in cases of personal injury and wrongful death claims. Furthermore, she has published various articles in several professional journals.
Marjolein is registered with the Dutch Bar Association (NOVA) as specialising in the field of insurance law. According to the standards applied by the Netherlands Bar, this registration requires that she obtain ten educational points in that specific field in each calendar year.
