For over three decades, Ron Ohren was at multinational law firm headquartered in Chicago, where he served as the Chair of its North American Insurance Practice. Ron's coverage practice focuses on pre-dispute counsel, proactive risk management, and representation of insurance industry clients in litigation, and also mediation, arbitration, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. His experience spans a wide array of insurance and reinsurance matters, including insurance regulatory matters.

• Represented insurers and reinsurers in AFFF/PFAS-related coverage matters—including disputes and litigation—on behalf of numerous insureds involved in the manufacture, distribution, and sale of PFAS or PFAS-containing products.
• Represented insurers in opioid-related coverage matters—including disputes and litigation—on behalf of numerous pharmaceutical manufacturers, wholesale distributors, and retail pharmacy insureds.
• Represented insurers and reinsurers in coverage matters involving a wide range of products, including, for example, Combat Arms Earplugs and vaping products—often in connection with underlying class actions and multidistrict litigation (MDLs).
• Over the course of decades, represented insurers in coverage matters—primarily under D&O policies, but also under general liability and fiduciary liability policies—involving utilities and energy industry companies.
• Over the course of decades, represented insurers in handled media-related coverage matters involving movies, television shows, videos, books, newspapers, magazines, electronic products and games, electronic databases, and music—primarily under media, cyber, cyber tech, tech E&O and related insurance policies.
• Represented insurers and reinsurers in privacy-related coverage matters—primarily under general liability, media, cyber, cyber tech, and tech E&O policies—for insureds facing claims under privacy statutes such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act (GIPA), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA ).
• Advised on captive reinsurance, product liability insurance, and D&O issues arising from the domestic and international bankruptcies of a major Japanese auto parts manufacturer.
• Conducted insurance, indemnity, and litigation/claims-focused due diligence for dozens of business transactions.
• Advised on insurance issues and policy drafting for coverage of financial and transactional risks, including buyer- and seller-side M&A representations and warranties insurance, and programs addressing tax, regulatory, and investment exposures.
