Flavia joined Clyde & Co's London office in 2015, qualifying into the Energy, Engineering, Marine and Construction team in 2017. Before qualifying, she spent six months on secondment working for a leading insurance broker advising on commercial contracts.

She advises insurers and reinsurers on coverage issues and disputes in the upstream, downstream and renewable energy sectors, usually involving an international element. She also advises international energy contractors on large scale contractual disputes, with a particular focus on construction disputes.

Flavia has broad experience of litigation, arbitration, mediation and negotiation under both English law and foreign law, acting for the London market and international clients. She has significant experience of dealing with complex engineering issues, drafting written submissions in contentious matters and managing cases through legal proceedings.

Flavia is fluent in both Italian and English.

 

Experience
  • Advising energy insurers and reinsurers on a variety of coverage issues and disputes arising in respect of claims under construction and operational policies, including in respect of business interruption claims.
  • Representing insurers in the Commercial Court case regarding coverage for the YME Platform North Sea loss being defended on various coverage grounds.
  • Representing an international EPC contractor in LCIA arbitration proceedings regarding the design, engineering and construction of an early production facility, pipelines, molten sulphur handling facilities and a sulphur granulation unit in Kuwait.
  • Successfully defending a challenge brought before the Commercial Court for serious irregularity under Section 68 of the Arbitration Act 1996 in respect of the exclusion of a billion-euro loss of profit claim from arbitration proceedings.
  • Acting for an international EPC contractor in an ICC arbitration arising from a commercial dispute regarding the development of a gas booster station in the Middle East.
  • Advising international clients on the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards in various foreign jurisdictions.
