Gemma Parker is a Partner based in the Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss Team in Southampton. She specialises in defending her own case load of catastrophic injury and multi-track personal injury claims in relation to a wide variety of Animals Act, employers’ liability, public liability and motor claims.
Gemma deals with complex liability investigations and has been successful in having cases discontinued and/or obtaining substantial reductions in relation to contributory negligence, where appropriate. She has also successfully brought and defended contribution claims.
Gemma is experienced in handling a variety of claims and is currently dealing with cases involving unusual circumstances including a claimant who was injured on a fairground ride, a claimant kicked in the face by a horse, a claimant injured by tackling players coming off the pitch at a football match, a claimant injured whilst falling from scaffolding and a claimant injured whilst riding a stolen motorcycle without a licence or insurance.
Gemma regularly receives instructions to act in claims involving traumatic brain injuries, serious spinal cord injuries, amputations, intricate psychiatric and chronic pain symptoms and life changing orthopaedic injuries. She is also experienced at recovery claims where there has been clinical negligence following treatment for primary insured accidents.
