For over 25 years, he has handled the defence of substantial claims against professional practices, including accountants, construction professionals, solicitors, barristers, brokers and IFAs. He advises on regulatory issues and all forms of investigation into professional conduct. He is a specialist in complex insurance coverage resolution.

His client base includes the Big Four and mid-tier accountancy firms, international surveying practices, global insurance brokers, a number of pre-eminent architectural and engineering firms, and other large corporate practices, as well as a broad range of market leading insurers.

An experienced insurance practitioner, Patrick handles complex coverage issues across a range of business lines including D&O, W&I Insurance, financial lines and cyber-risks. He has been involved in some of the most substantial insurance disputes of recent years.

Patrick also has a strong background in construction law and has acted for numerous parties within the industry including contractors, clients, sub-contractors and suppliers. He has almost 30 years' experience in the resolution of construction disputes through Adjudication, Arbitration and litigation. He is also an expert in construction insurance, and advises insurers on coverage issues relating to single project policies, design & build insurance, contractors all risk, EAR, and DSU policies among others.

In addition to England and Wales, Patrick is also qualified to practice in Hong Kong.

Experience

• Accountants' claims - Acting in the defence of numerous "firm threatening" claims against auditors, often arising out of high profile corporate collapses and alleged failures to detect fraud by former management.   
• Regulatory and disciplinary claims – Advising clients on the range of investigations they may face from entities such as the SFC, HKICPA, FRC, Insurance Authority, Privacy Commissioner and EAA amongst others.
• Commercial litigation – Frequently acting on large scale international arbitrations and disputes covering breaches of commercial contracts, jurisdictional disputes, enforcement and recoveries.
• Construction claims - Acting for Wembley (Hong Kong) Limited in the successful defence of a multi-million dollar claim concerning the construction and operation of the Hong Kong Stadium
• Insurance coverage - Advising insurers on the coverage and defence of a GBP 300 million claim resulting from a failed power plant and burst dam
• Insurance coverage - Advising on the insurance coverage of substantial Warranty and Indemnity claims, for both “buy-side” and “sell-side” policies.
• Construction claim - Advising one of the world's leading construction contractors on a substantial claim for loss and expense and over 400 variations in connection with the construction of a light railway
• Professional negligence claim - Defending one of the world's pre-eminent engineering practices in relation to an alleged defective design of a sludge processing plant
• Professional negligence claim - Defending a firm of international surveyors in relation to a GBP 250 million claim concerning allegedly negligent overvaluation of a property portfolio
