Full Profile
Antony joined Clyde & Co’s aviation finance team in 2020 after training at the firm since 2018. Prior to qualifying as a lawyer, Antony spent three years at a private equity investment fund in the City of London.
Antony’s main area of practice is acting for and advising airlines on the financing and leasing of commercial aircraft and spare engines. His experience includes both operating and finance lease arrangements, covering sale & leaseback, JOLCO, French and Italian tax leasing and export credit and insurer backed financings.
Antony has delivered aircraft from all major aircraft manufacturers to numerous international flag carriers and low cost airlines. He also advises clients on various operational issues such as lease novations and redelivery obligations.
Antony also acts for lenders in the corporate jet market, advising on the purchase, financing, sale and operation of new and used business aircraft and helicopters, covering a variety of states of registry and borrower jurisdictions.
Experience
- Acting for Turkish Airlines on the EXIM guaranteed French tax leasing of nine Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and three General Electric GEnx spare engines (Europe Deal of the Year 2021, AirFinance Journal).
- Acting for SunExpress on the UKEF guaranteed financing of five Boeing 737 MAX aircraft (European Supported Finance Deal of the Year 2021, Airline Economics).
- Negotiating and acting for Wizz Air and its subsidiaries on its major re-fleeting programme of A321neo aircraft, including sale & leaseback and JOLCO transactions with market leading financiers and lessors.
- Advising and acting for airBaltic on the sale & leaseback, financing and operation of its fleet of A220-300 aircraft and spare engines with a variety of lessors, including EDC, Chorus Aviation and Altavair.
- Acting for Turkish Airlines on the ACG guaranteed Italian tax lease of three Airbus A321neo aircraft (European Deal of the Year 2021 - Airline Economics, Structured Lease Deal of the Year 2021 - AirFinance Journal).
- Acting for Turkish Airlines on the commercial finance leasing of two Boeing 787-9 aircraft, four A321neo aircraft and three Airbus A350 aircraft with AVIC Leasing.
- Advising and acting for Travelopia Group on the leasing of two Airbus H145 helicopters to be utilised on the polar expedition ship, Ultramarine.
- Advising and acting for a major international bank on all aspects of its corporate and business jet financing, including the purchasing, financial leasing, sale and operation covering worldwide jurisdictions and operators.
