Dr. Ramadan is widely regarded as a go-to practitioner in the pharmaceuticals and healthcare sector. His practice also spans the automotive, oil and gas, construction, technology and energy sectors, acting for prominent regional and international companies across Egypt and the wider Middle East.

He has advised on multiple corporate transactions, working closely with clients operating in the automotive, energy, pharmaceutical, healthcare and technology sectors.

Dr. Ramadan is admitted as attorney and counsellor at law with New York State Bar and admitted before the Court of Cassation in Egypt.

He graduated with a Master of Law Degree and PHD (SJD) from the George Washington University Law School in 2006 and 2009 respectively. He also graduated with the highest honours from Cairo University in 2003.

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Dr. Ramadan served as the managing partner of the Cairo office of a regional law firm. He also led the General Corporate and Commercial Department at one of the leading law firms in Cairo. In addition, Dr. Ramadan has worked with US law firms in their Cairo, London, and Washington, DC offices.

Dr. Ramadan is fluent in English and Arabic.

  • Lead counsel to a multinational company on leasing the chain of commercial stores in Egypt to a big local company for more than EGP 800 million EGP in oil and gas sector.
  • Lead counsel to a multinational company on its acquisition of 100% shares of a group of local companies in the field of maritime and shipping including a corporate restructuring of the group prior to the acquisition for more than EGP 100 million.
  • Lead counsel to a multinational service company in all its operations in Egypt in relation to visa processing services.
  • Lead counsel to a large Saudi service company in the acquisition of three companies in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya for more than EGP 30 million.
  • Lead counsel to the largest multinational pharmaceutical company in Egypt in its successful high level patent litigation in Egypt against local big companies in Egypt.
  • Lead counsel to one of the biggest commercial banks on its multimillion-finance agreement with international financial institutions.
  • Lead counsel on the sale of assets for a large pharmaceutical company to another multinational nutrition company in Egypt as part of USD 11 billion global deal.
  • Lead counsel to a multinational investor on the restructuring of EGP 70 million loan.
  • Lead counsel on the capital increase of a major pharmaceutical company in an amount exceeding USD 55 million (around EGP 1 billion).
  • Lead counsel on the settlement of a long pending debt of EGP 165 million on behalf of a multinational company operating in the software industry.
  • Lead counsel to a large multinational automotive company in its successful challenge and refund of more than EGP 750 million against the Customs Authority through initiating parallel and multiple contentious proceedings before the Egyptian Court and the Ministerial Committee.

  • Counsel of the Claimant on an arbitration case with a value of USD 150 million involving a multinational pharmaceutical company before the ICC.
  • Counsel of the Respondent on an arbitration case before CRCICA concerning a construction project at Cairo Airport.
  • Counsel of the Claimant on an arbitration case before CRCICA concerning a refinery project.
  • Counsel of the Claimant on an arbitration case before CRCICA concerning breach of a subcontracting agreement.
  • Counsel of the Claimant on an arbitration case before CRCICA concerning the recovery of sales of tickets.
  • Counsel of the Claimant (large development company) on an arbitration case (ad-hoc) against a purchaser of a land.
  • Counsel of the Respondent in an arbitration case before CRCICA in relation to a commercial agency dispute.
