Oliver is an Associate in the Energy, Marine and Natural Resources group at Clyde & Co. He joined the firm in 2023 as a Summer Clerk and has been an Associate since October 2025.
Oliver specialises in resolving commercial disputes. He acts for a range of clients in the maritime, aviation and energy sectors, including shipowners, classification societies, airlines, oil companies, and insurers.
Oliver is an active member of the Maritime Legal Association of Australia and New Zealand (MLAANZ), Maritime Industry Australia Limited, Young Shipping Australia, and UNSW Rowing Club.
Experience
- Acting for a Japanese shipowner in ship arrest and subsequent recovery proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia following a vessel collision.
- Acting for a classification society in the shipping industry to defend against a misleading or deceptive conduct claim in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
- Acting for an oil company in a tax dispute in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
- Acting for airlines to defend against passenger, cargo and baggage claims in various jurisdictions around Australia.
- Advising a mining company on a mineral export agreement.
- Advising an international cruise line on commercial issues relating to operating out of Australia.
- Advising clients on the sale and purchase of vessels.
