Samantha is an experienced litigator, having been called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2003. She joined the team in 2025 and has vast experience in all aspects of clinical negligence and healthcare. She acts on behalf of NHS Resolution and Trust clients dealing with complex and high value claims involving maximum severity injuries, including adult and child brain injury, amputation, spinal injury and paraplegia. She has had a number of High Court trial successes and group litigation experience. She also appears as an advocate for Trusts at inquests, providing sensitive but robust representation in front of coroners and juries. 

Samantha has undertaken a number of in-house secondments at NHS Resolution and Trusts, including acting as Interim Head of Legal. She regularly provides training and lectures to clients, clinicians and colleagues. 

Samantha has had repeated market recognition and ranking in the Legal 500 since 2019, as a 'Rising Star', 'Leading Associate', 'Next Generation Lawyer' and 'Key Practitioner' and described as "standout lawyer", "pivotal", with "the ability to pinpoint critical issues at an early stage" and who goes to "great lengths to ensure our voice is heard as a client.

Experience
  • Quantum trial in the High Court - complex arguments relating to provisional damages and quantum.
  • Liability trial in the High Court - successfully defended a case for adult brain injury following subarachnoid haemorrhage, where breach of duty was admitted but causation denied.
  • Liability trial in High Court - successfully defended a Cauda Equina claim where liability was denied. 
  • Group Action - managed group action relating to bacteria within a Hospital water supply, resulting in compromised settlements.
  • Resolution - Resolved many very high value and sensitive claims via mediation and ADR.
  • Discontinuance - Secured discontinuance in a surgical claim against a general surgeon for injury whilst removing a gallbladder.
  • Inquest - Represented Trust further to baby death following MRSA.
  • Inquest - Represented Trust further to death of a vulnerable patient from hyponatremia.
  • Inquest - Represented Trust further to death of non-capacious resident of a care home. 
  • Townhall - Hosted, in collaboration with NHS Resolution, key experts, primary care providers and commissioners to discuss treatment of eating disorders in the east of England. 
  • COP - Represented Trust in an application for child safeguarding, where concerns were raised as to possible Fabricated/Induced Illness allegations against the parents. 
  • COP - Represented Trust in an application to determine the validity of an Advance Decision to refuse treatment in a patient with motor neurone disease.
