Andrew's expertise extends to employers' and public liability claims, road traffic accidents and health and safety prosecutions. He has significant experience of high value litigation including brain and spinal injury claims. He has been accredited by The Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in personal injury law since 2007. He and his team also handle high value subrogated recoveries for large insurer clients.

Andrew has a significant commercial caseload including construction disputes as well as general commercial disputes including experience of arbitration.

With an impressive number of insurance clients, Andrew acts to represent them in the courts of varying levels, at fatal accident inquiries and at appeal.

Experience
  • Succeeded in disputing an invoice issued under the Fee for Intervention Regulations. Believed to be the first in Scotland to do so.
  • Wilson v Motherwell College & Anr - a long running case involving causation of prolapsed intervertebral discs. The court concluded that there was no correlation between repeated minor trauma and prolapse.
  • Successful defence of bus v pedestrian catastrophic injury claim
  • Successful pursuit of insured based on application of s151(8) of the RTA. Six figure recovery made.
  • Successful appeal in the Inner House from a decision of the Upper Tax Tribunal
  • Enforcement of adjudication award in the Commercial Court with full recovery and costs
