Jessica joined Clyde & Co as a legal apprentice in 2015 in the energy, marine and natural resources team based in Guildford, where she has gained extensive experience pursuing claims against carriers in many different jurisdictions.

Jessica qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2021. She advises clients in relation to various shipping and international trade disputes relating to the carriage of goods by sea, road and air, in particular relating to bills of lading, charterparties, CMR Notes and air waybills, as well as defending claims in General Average and pursuing salvage indemnity claims.

Jessica has extensive experience of handling claims before the Commercial Court and London arbitration tribunals.

Experience
  • “CMA CGM LIBRA” – Defended the successful cargo interests for claims in General Average brought by the Shipowners in a landmark decision of the UK Supreme Court where it was held that a defective passage plan will render a vessel unseaworthy
  • Advising clients in relation to claims concerning damage to temperature-controlled cargoes
  • Acting for and providing advice to one of the largest international food groups in Europe
  • "MAERSK HONAM" - defending claims in salvage and pursuing recovery against multiple parties
  • Defending various claims for GA contributions in circumstances where the vessel was unseaworthy and/or where owners had failed to exercise due diligence to make the vessels seaworthy
