Tim is Chair of Clyde & Co's Global Professional Services Practice Group and is one of the leading advisers to professional services firms worldwide. He advises firms and international networks on complex professional liability claims, regulatory investigations, governance issues and business-critical risk matters.
In his role as Chair, Tim leads Clyde & Co's global strategy for the professional services sector, bringing together specialists from across the firm's international network to support accountants, consultants, architects, engineers, lawyers, property and other professional advisers as they navigate an increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscape.
Recognised for his deep understanding of the accountancy market, Tim works with firms ranging from the Big Four and global networks to mid-market and specialist practices. He provides strategic advice on risk management, professional liability exposures, regulatory scrutiny, reputational challenges and high-value disputes, helping clients protect their businesses and achieve their commercial objectives.
Tim is well known for his considerable experience advising audit firms and partners in relation to complex regulatory investigations by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) as well as assisting firms with requests by other regulators (including the SFO, NCA, SEC and PCAOB). He has acted on some of the largest FRC investigations of recent years (often following major corporate collapses and/or resulting from the detection of fraud) including on the four-year investigation into the audits of Carillion PLC and having acted in the high profile FRC Tribunal Hearing into the allegations of misconduct against audit team members (The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases).
Tim maintains busy general commercial litigation and art and cultural property practices having acted for the major auction houses, dealers, collectors and art market participants. He has extensive experience of high value negligence claims; title disputes; and attribution claims. He often works on such disputes with colleagues in New York, Paris, Dubai and Hong Kong and is a member of the Professional Advisors to the International Art Market (PAIAM) and Art Lawyers Association.
