Da-Shon Akelan Dixon is a member of Clyde & Co’s North American Financial Institutions and Directors & Officers (FIDO)/Professional Liability Practice Group. Da-Shon represents insurers nationwide in third-party matters, with a primary focus on professional liability. His work includes providing coverage counseling and litigating complex coverage disputes.

Da-Shon regularly prosecutes and defends declaratory judgment actions, seeks rescission of insurance policies, defends breach of contract claims, and resolves bad faith and extra-contractual damage disputes. He also pursues reimbursement and recoupment claims on behalf of insurers and handles allocation and priority disputes between carriers. Additionally, he occasionally serves as insurance defense counsel.

Beyond litigation, Da-Shon advises domestic and international insurers throughout the claims process. He delivers clear, practical coverage opinions and strategic guidance on indemnity allocation to safeguard his clients’ financial interests. His experience includes addressing conflicts of interest and independent counsel issues, developing proactive strategies to minimize exposure to bad faith and extra-contractual damages, and assisting with enforcement and collection of consent judgments. As monitoring counsel, he ensures claims are managed efficiently and aligned with client objectives. He also provides advice on policy wording to strengthen coverage positions, account for prior losses and underwriting considerations, and mitigate future risks.

Before joining Clyde & Co, Da-Shon represented domestic and international insurers in coverage counseling and litigation involving lawyers’ professional liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, cyber liability, management liability, and other specialized financial lines.
