Daniela Guízar focuses her practice on project finance, maritime, energy, and international trade law.

Her expertise lies in providing legal advice to national and foreign companies involved in the shipping and offshore oil and gas industry, advising clients on ship mortgages, cruise lines operations, contracts of affreightment, construction and operation of port terminals, commercial trading transactions, transportation and logistics contracts, and other regulatory and licensing matters for vessels, oil rigs, and offshore units to operate in Mexican waters.

She has experience in complex finance transactions for the acquisition of vessels and rigs, including negotiation and preparation of trust agreements, contracts of affreightment, and security agreements.

Her experience also includes assisting clients with all legal work required for the importation, flagging, and registration of vessels and rigs, as well as advising and representing clients in public tenders in the energy and commodities sectors.

Daniela obtained her Law Degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and attended courses at King’s College London.

Experience
  • Advising one of the biggest North American Energy Companies in the construction and operation of an LNG Terminal in Mexico, which includes the operation of an FSU in Mexican Waters. Assisting with all regulatory matters related to the daily operation of the LNG Terminal.
  • Advising a Norwegian Bond Trustee in the financial restructuring of a Bond Agreement for the acquisition of a modular equipment and two jack-ups by a Mexican oil & gas company, including the amendment of all security agreements.
  • Advising a Singaporean shipyard in the financing operations for the acquisition of two jack-up rigs by a Mexican oil & gas company, including the preparation and negotiation of security and affreightment contracts. 
  • Advising United Arab Emirates shipowners in the flagging and registration of a specialized vessel to operate in Mexican waters, including drafting all charter and financial lease agreements.
