Alexia is a Senior Associate in the London office with experience in litigation, the defence of professional indemnity claims and regulatory investigations.

Full Profile

Alexia is a Senior Associate in the Insurance Financial & Professional Disputes group in our London office, who works primarily with the department’s Law Firm Liability, Regulatory, Disciplinary and Investigations sub-group. Her practice focuses on advising and defending legal professionals, firms of solicitors and their insurers in professional negligence and malpractice claims.

Alexia has experience of High Court civil litigation claims, arbitrations, internal and SRA investigations, and SDT proceedings, and has resolved disputes via ADR and mediation. She also advises law firms and their insurers on regulatory obligations and risk management issues.

As part of Clyde & Co's Resilience Programme, Alexia is developing thought leadership on the impact of climate change and ESG on legal professionals. She has authored publications on these issues in CorporateLiveWire’s Insurance & Risk Management Expert Guide 2020, and in Globe Law and Business’s “Risk Management in Law Firms: Mitigate Risk and Enhance Firm Success” 2022.

Alexia is a Representative on Clyde & Co's Gender Equality Committee, and active within the firm's ACED network (for Achieving Cultural and Ethnic Diversity). She also represents the Insurance Financial & Professional Disputes group in Clyde & Co's Employee Communication and Consultation Group.

 

Experience
  • Defending large law firms facing professional negligence claims from previous clients, from pre-action through to trial
  • Advising solicitors and firms on complaints notified to the SRA, including responses to production notices under Section 44B of the Solicitors Act 1974
  • Acting for legal professionals on regulatory investigations by the SRA and proceedings before the SDT
  • Defending other professionals such as accountants and tax advisors facing professional negligence claims from previous clients
  • Thought leadership, panel presentations and publications, including in collaboration with insurer clients, on risk management issues posed by climate change and ESG
