Sophia is a Counsel based in our Munich office specializing in litigation and arbitration for commercial law and insurance matters as well as EU regulatory law, administrative and international law.
Sophia is a Counsel in the Dispute resolution / Litigation & Arbitration practice of Clyde & Co and based in the Munich office.
She advises and represents international and domestic clients in a wide array of complex commercial, liability and corporate disputes as well as in EU administrative proceedings. Her practice focusses in particular on international commercial disputes, product liability, D&O and W&I insurance disputes. Sophia’s expertise further encompasses EU regulatory frameworks, international law and challenges in the field of human rights law, the laws of armed conflicts, ESG and climate change. She advises clients in proceedings before EU institutions and bodies and courts of the European Union.
Sophia studied law at the University of Munich. She holds a LL.M. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, and stayed as a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge, UK, as well as the Université Laval in Quebec, Canada. Sophia was awarded a doctorate (Dr iur) from the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich and has acted as research associate and lecturer on EU and international law and administrative proceedings.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Sophia worked for another renowned international law firm in the fields of insurance law, commercial litigation and arbitration and was appointed judge at the Munich Administrative Court. Sophia further has experience as claims handler on secondment with an international insurance company focussing on financial lines claims in the US and Europe (Warranties & Indemnities, Directors & Officers, Contingent & Litigation risk insurance).
Sophia is admitted to the German Bar (Rechtsanwältin). She has been recognized as “One to Watch” for litigation by Best Lawyers (2024).
