Adriaan is a Senior Associate based in our Munich office and focuses on all aspects of corporate law, especially domestic, international, and cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity, corporate insurance-related matters, as well as transactional liability insurance.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Adriaan worked in both the Johannesburg and Frankfurt offices of another global law firm. He has been involved in every aspect of the M&A process, from the provision of structuring advice, conducting and managing due diligence investigations, advising on deal structuring, to contract negotiation and drafting.
In addition, Adriaan applies his deal experience to advise on contingent legal risk insurance and warranty and indemnity insurance (W&I) policies; typically, in relation to large scale multi-jurisdictional transactions. Adriaan also spent six months at a large insurer’s Frankfurt office as a secondee underwriter where he worked as part of the M&A team dealing with W&I insurance.
Adriaan graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Bachelor of Commerce (law, financial accounting & tax) and a Bachelor of Laws in 2014 and 2016 respectively. Whilst completing both his degrees in South Africa, Adriaan spent several months abroad, completing an exchange semester at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, as well as a short course in human rights law at Humboldt University of Berlin.
Adriaan speaks English, German and Afrikaans.

- Advising a leading international Sweden-based digital entertainment group on its acquisition of further shares in a German mobile and online gaming developer and publisher.
- Advising a large global esports group on two cross-border group restructurings.
- Continued advice and support to a large global esports company on three global M&A joint venture transactions across various jurisdictions.
- Advising underwriters on over 60 M&A transactions, consisting mostly of multi-jurisdictions target entities based in the UK and DACH region.
- Advising a European-based lender on private equity investments in four German-based technology start-up entities.
- Advising a leading wastewater service provider on a minority private equity investment.
