Sian handles high value catastrophic injury claims. She deals with instructions as a result of road traffic accidents, employer's liability claims and occupier's liability claims. Sian has experience of handling clinical negligence claims and has acted for NHS Trusts previously.

She handles cases ranging from £500k to £20m+ involving multi-party claims and technical legal issues, exploring complex issues of liability and quantum. Her caseload includes spinal injuries, brain injuries, amputations and chronic pain along with a number of paediatric cases. Sian has a particular interest in cases with a sporting element and has handled a number of cases involving elite athletes.

Sian is a part of Clyde & Co's brain injury subject matter group and actuarial group. These groups keep track of cutting edge developments and also provide internal and external training. 

Experience
  • Directly instructed on multi-million pound claims.  
  • Assessing quantum and advising insurance/re-insurance companies on reserve figures.
  • Proving timely and commercially focused high level legal advice to insurer clients.
  • Negotiating settlements. 
  • Drafting complex settlement agreements including multi-party PPOs (periodical payment orders). 
  • Drafting pleadings and statements. 
  • Dealing with all aspects of claims management from the start of investigations through to trial. My cases are often issued in the Royal Courts of Justice due to the pleaded value and complexity. 
  • Assessing and investigating high level fraud. 
  • Reviewing contracts for insurance companies and providing advice. Including contracts involving third party service providers.   Considering issues surrounding indemnity.
  • Considering specialist expert reports on a range of matters involving; statistical, investment and medical evidence. 
  • Delivering internal and external training sessions. 
  • Considering data protection and compliance issues.
  • Assessing economic trends and keeping up-to-date with emerging legal issues.
  • Creating innovative tools to assist clients including alternative ways to assess quantum and liability risks quickly.
Qualifications:

Sian holds an LLB in Law and has completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC).
