Emily is an Associate in the projects and construction group with experience in both contentious and transactional projects and construction law. She acts for a range of clients including employers, developers, contractors and consultants. Her contentious expertise includes advising on project and construction disputes, both domestically and internationally, including court, arbitration and adjudication proceedings and mediations.

Emily also advises employers, developers, consultants and project consortia in relation to drafting and negotiating various project documents, including trade contracts and ancillary documents for major UK projects.

Experience

• Advising a number of contractors in relation to cladding and fire safety issues at high-rise residential developments across the UK.
• Acting for a UAE-based joint venture in an ADCCAC arbitration relating to the termination of a subcontractor on a flagship mixed-use development in Kazakhstan.
• Acting for a major contractor in a CiArb arbitration relating to various disputes concerning the construction of a particle accelerator.
• Acting for a contractor in Technology and Construction Court proceedings relating to overheating issues at a residential development and claims by the Employer for alleged defects in the design.
• Advising a project company on operational disputes with a local authority and service provider in respect of a UK schools PFI project.
• Advising a number of project companies on operational variations to UK hospitals and housing PFI projects.
• Advising on and preparing trade contracts on different phases of a high-profile mixed-used development in Battersea.
