Michelle Ozuruigbo is a trial attorney who focuses her practice in the areas of litigation, insurance, reinsurance, product liability, coverage, and defense of tort cases.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Michelle was a litigator for the US federal government, where she handled complex labor and employment, appropriations, contracts, and regulatory matters on behalf of various federal agencies.
Michelle began her career as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County, Illinois, where she drafted over 50 appellate briefs, successfully argued before the Illinois Appellate Court on a Fourth Amendment matter, and prosecuted over 300 bench and jury trials. Michelle also previously served as Senior Attorney at a public transportation company in Chicago, where she successfully defended the municipal agency against claims of personal injury, wrongful death, and premises liability cases and also tried and won 22 jury trials, including a traumatic brain injury case wherein the plaintiff sought over USD 3.5 million in damages.
Throughout her 15 years in public service, Michelle has served as legal counsel for several municipalities, public school districts, and state agencies where she handled complex and high-profile litigation including personal injury, premises liability, and employment cases.
