Jay Patton

Jay Patton has over 25 years of complex litigation experience handling a wide variety of matters ranging from first chair defense of complex business disputes and personal injury matters to managing counsel coordinating the defense of general liability matters over multiple jurisdictions. Jay's experience extends across many industries including manufacturing, retail, automotive and trucking, technology and insurance. 

As with every client, Jay's goal is to be extremely responsive to their needs, to proactively assess and minimize risk, and to develop a plan to efficiently and effectively move their matter toward a resolution through settlement or trial, while keeping them up to date and aware of all significant developments in a timely fashion.

Jay's experience includes first chair trial experience for both jury and bench trials. Additionally, he has worked as monitoring counsel for insurers for matters involving allegations of bad faith and potential excess exposure.

• Secured dismissal through summary judgment of large international retailer on claim alleging negligence in the reporting of a shoplifting claim to law enforcement. (2025)
• Secured dismissal as a discovery sanction of large international retailer on a claim alleging false imprisonment of the plaintiff. (2025)
• Secured favorable settlement for corporate client in a contentious breach of contract claim regarding data sharing agreement. (2024) 
• Secured summary judgment resolution of declaratory judgment, and related personal injury action, regarding issues arising out of an insurance policy that was purchased on the same date as the accident. (2021)

• Secured a defense verdict in an admitted liability rear end collision case in Cherokee County, Georgia, where the plaintiff sought a verdict in excess of USD 2 million arguing that the accident caused the need for multiple back surgeries and permanent impairment. (2019)
• Secured nominal award verdict in Forsyth County, Georgia, in an admitted liability auto accident, where the plaintiff claimed a significant back injury was aggravated by the accident at issue. (2018)
• Secured a verdict below claimed medical specials in DeKalb County, Georgia, in a disputed liability pedestrian versus vehicle accident where the plaintiff sought payment in excess of the policy limits because of a demand that was missed by the insurer. (2018)
• Secured a nominal award verdict in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in an admitted liability rear end accident where the plaintiff contended that the accident caused a shoulder injury, which ended his professional baseball career. (2018)
