Miguel is an Associate in Clyde & Co's Madrid office, specialising in marine and transport law. He focuses on cargo claims, recovery claims, marine and transport insurance, shipping, and transport dispute resolution, with particular expertise in cross-jurisdictional cargo disputes. 

Miguel advises clients on a range of issues, including insurance, cargo claims, vessel arrests, and international transport disputes. He regularly represents clients in shipping and logistics disputes, offering practical solutions for both contentious and transactional matters.

Miguel holds a Law degree from the University of Seville and completed a combined LL.M. and Master’s Degree in Corporate and Financial Law. He further obtained an LL.M. in Maritime Business and Law from the Spanish Maritime Institute. He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and speaks fluent english.

Experience
  • Advising on a complex cargo claim involving damage to fruit, valued at approximately €2,500,000, due to improper handling and preparation of the shipment.
  • Advising insurers on the coverage of damage to aerospace construction material during multimodal transport.
  • Acting on behalf of insurers in multi-jurisdictional claims regarding damage to goods during international transport, handling disputes across the European Union, South America, and Asia.
  • Acting on behalf of insurers in a cross-jurisdictional cargo dispute, successfully closing a recovery deal for temperature damage to 25 containers being transported by sea.
  • Representing the owners of a ship in a vessel arrest following a minor oil spillage, working through international maritime law to secure the release of the vessel.
  • Advising a client on a complex project cargo dispute related to the transport of heavy machinery and materials for a construction project.
  • Representing various cargo owners and their insurers in court proceedings for a recovery claim against road carriers concerning small-weight cargo.
  • Representing clients in court proceedings for complex cargo claim recoveries, including advocating for insurers in a trial concerning damage to goods during international transport.
