Caitlin is a South African qualified attorney with experience in insurance advice and dispute resolution.

She advises South African institutions, insurers and coverholders in relation to coverage, defence, recoveries and policy wordings. Caitlin has experience in all aspects of civil litigation including the drafting of motion and action proceedings in the High Court.

Caitlin’s experience in the commercial and insurance space includes directors and officer’s liability, cyber, data protection, professional indemnity, commercial crime and investigations, fidelity and personal injury.

Caitlin holds BCom and LLB degrees (with distinction) from the University of Pretoria. 

 

Experience
  • Defending claims against insureds, including a damages claim in excess of R100million against the former chief executive officer of a construction company relating to the alleged breach of duty in the management and operation of a mine. 
  • Providing policy coverage and legal liability advice to underwriting managers and insurers on a number of complex fraud and fidelity guarantee matters. 
  • Experience in eDiscovery and assisting in large investigations, document and general data reviews
  • Experience in drafting insurance policy wordings for South African insurers
  • Instituting subrogated recoveries against third parties
