Matt advises multinational corporations, private institutions, and individuals as they navigate high-stakes white-collar enforcement and US national security-related matters. Matt supports clients on a range of sensitive issues, emphasizing sanctions, export controls, civil and criminal anti-money laundering, and fraud laws. 

Matt defends clients facing government subpoenas and regulatory enforcement actions, including those brought by the US Department of Justice, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control, the US Bureau of Industry and Security, and the US Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.  

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Matt was an associate at another international law firm. Before that, Matt was a clerk with the US Attorney’s Office in the District of Maryland, a Dean’s Fellow at the American University War Crimes Research Office, and a member of the American University Law Review. Before receiving his law degree, Matt served for over seven years as an analyst for the US Secret Service. He currently holds a US government security clearance at the Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information level.

  • Advised on a private educational institution’s response to a US Department of Justice subpoena and supported a related internal investigation.
  • Served as a core member on a team leading an anti-money laundering, sanctions, and anti-corruption compliance advisory project for an American casino chain opening a new location in an international jurisdiction.
  • Supported a complex, cross-border internal investigation of a Middle Eastern aerospace company involving multiple sanctions, fraud, export control, and bribery issues.
  • Advised a Mediterranean company on a CFIUS filing related to its acquisition of rights in a US corporation.
