James is an Associate in the Projects & Construction Group with experience advising a variety of clients on contentious and non-contentious construction matters, both domestic and international.
His contentious experience covers alternative dispute resolution, High Court Litigation and International Arbitration. James has recently acted for an international contractor in High Court (Technology and Construction Court) litigation and acts for domestic contractors in relation to several ongoing disputes.
James’ non-contentious works principally involves acting for developers, drafting and negotiating various contractual documents with contractors and consultants. He also has experience advising funds and other finance institutions on the construction aspects of relevant transactions.
Experience
- Acting for an international contractor in Technology and Construction Court proceedings under an amended ICHEME Red Book in respect of the construction of an energy from waste plant.
- Advising an expert witness to a public inquiry further to a request for evidence under Rule 9 of the Inquiry Rules 2006.
- Advising domestic contractors on the pre-action stages of a number of potential cladding disputes.
- Acting for an African Public Authority in relation to an ICC Arbitration.
- Advising a large financial institution on the construction elements of various funding and development agreements.
- Advising multiple UK developers on building contracts and professional team appointments for commercial and industrial developments.
- Advising a UK Contractor on the drafting of a bespoke form of sub-contract based on the IchemE Brown Book.
- Acting for an EPC Contractor on the drafting of a Supply Contract for a UK Energy from Waste Plant.
