Michael Williams focuses on construction and commercial disputes and has acted as counsel in all levels of British Columbia courts, as well as in administrative proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations.
Michael provides legal counsel to contractors, developers, consultants, and property owners on a wide range of issues and on projects small and large. His practice regularly involves delay claims, deficiency claims and builders liens, as well as a host of contractual and negligence issues that often arise within the construction context. Michael also maintains an insurance practice where he acts for both insurers and insureds, as well as engineers in disciplinary proceedings.
Michael also provides solicitor services including contract drafting and advice on navigating contract termination, home warranty claims and WorkSafeBC issues.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Michael gained a considerable amount of experience in the construction industry, working for both contractors and sub-trades as well as a leading innovator of construction technologies.
While attending law school, Michael was Vice President of the Law Students’ Society and gained considerable solicitor experience as a member of the Business Law Clinic group that offers legal information to small businesses and non-profits on matters such as incorporation, financing, charitable registration and more. In his third year, Michael was also awarded the Murray Fraser Award for his outstanding contribution to life at the law school.
