Sindy joined Clyde & Co in 2021 and is a Senior Associate of the Marine and Dispute Resolution team. She specialises in commercial and shipping disputes and has extensive experience in complex litigation as well as arbitration cases in Hong Kong and internationally. Her practice focuses on the shipping, international trade, energy and commodities sectors, covering charterparty claims, carriage of goods by sea or air, bunker claims, and sale of goods disputes.
Sindy has acted for clients in both ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, including arbitrations conducted under the HKIAC, UNCITRAL, LMAA and SIAC Rules. She also has experience in making urgent applications to obtain interim measures from the court / tribunal such as injunction, asset preservation order, search order, prohibition order, and arrest of vessel.
Sindy frequently advises and represents clients in settlement negotiations and mediation, assisting them in achieving practical and commercially sensible outcomes.
In addition to civil disputes, Sindy handles criminal defence work and assists clients in responding to investigations by authorities. She has advised on cases involving stowaways, suspected dangerous drugs found on board a vessel, suspected strategic commodities detained by the Customs, investigations arising from a fatal workplace accident etc.
Sindy also provides legal support to conglomerates and companies across a wide spectrum of matters, including regulatory and compliance requirements, licensing, employment matters, contract review, personal data privacy protection, and competition law issues.
Sindy holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Warwick and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong. She is qualified as a Solicitor in Hong Kong in 2020.
Sindy is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
