Clyde & Co’s Energy team announce the arrival of Duncan Gray as a Special Counsel in the London office. Duncan represents the 11th major hire for the team in the last 12 months – the team doubling in size in that period.
James Varanese, one of the leaders of Clyde & Co's energy team comments: "Over recent years, and especially over the last 12 months, we have built on the firm's historical strengths in oil and gas transportation and insurance, assembling a team that now operates across the full range of the industry, whether transactions, projects, trading, disputes and arbitrations, health & safety or global compliance, and with particular focus on emerging markets."
"This focus is increasingly relevant as the oil and gas industry adapts to reflect available supply and Duncan's depth of experience in natural resources across emerging markets perfectly complements and reinforces the strengths of our team. We are delighted Duncan has chosen to add his impressive track record and practice to ours."
A US lawyer, Duncan has many years experience in the oil and gas and mining sectors. His career has included private practice, where he headed Mayer Brown's Houston office, and was a member of the firm's executive committee, as well as in-house roles as general counsel of an upstream company and principal of a private equity house focused on the sector. Duncan has worked extensively in emerging markets spanning Russia, Central Asia, Latin America and China. His expertise encompasses disputes and international arbitrations, privatisations, and a wide range of complex financings and acquisitions.
Duncan Gray comments: "Both my clients and I have been impressed by Clyde & Co's international footprint, the growth and calibre of its natural resources expertise and our common focus on emerging markets. The enabling manner in which the firm operates made this move a highly desirable one for me and I am delighted to form part of their expanding team."
