Jacinta's practice focuses on environment and planning requirements, compliance, risk management and regulatory issues associated with property, project and infrastructure development.  This includes residential, commercial and industrial developments, as well as the construction and operation of infrastructure, for transport, energy, resources, and waste and water facilities. Her expertise will complement the existing Real Estate, Projects & Construction, Occupational, Health & Safety and Regulatory practices at Clyde & Co.

She regularly advises domestic and in-bound investors on the purchase of property in regards to: the current and permissible use or development of the property; approvals and licences required for using and developing land; existing and potential planning and environmental restrictions and liabilities; and, the compliance issues and risks associated with contamination.

In addition, Jacinta regularly advises on the requirements for environmental impact assessments, approvals and environmental licences for new projects and existing operations. Jacinta also assists clients in responding to pollution and other environmental incidents, clean-up notices and EPA/regulator investigations and actions. The use and development of contaminated land and the associated risks and liabilities remains a significant part of her practice.

David McElveney, Partner and Head of the Real Estate, Projects & Construction Group at Clyde & Co in Australia, says: "The addition of Jacinta's practice will further bolster our offering to clients in the property, construction, infrastructure and resources sectors. We see significant synergies between Jacinta’s practice and our own.

"Her reputation in the market as a go-to advisor in these areas of law is well known and we look forward to welcoming her to the partnership."

Jacinta says of her appointment:

I have been watching Clyde & Co with great interest for a number of years, including its role in significant and leading projects, and see in the firm an exciting opportunity to work with market-leaders in the real estate, construction, infrastructure, transport and insurance sectors.

"Working as a team, the culture of a firm and its leadership are very important to me. I have previously worked with several of the Clyde & Co partners and lawyers, and enjoyed doing so. I look forward to rekindling those relationships and growing our service offering to the market.

Michael Tooma, Managing Partner - Australia, at Clyde & Co adds: "Having worked with Jacinta for many years, I'm delighted that she is joining the firm. Jacinta brings with her a significant amount of knowledge and experience in environmental and planning law, which will complement our projects, construction and property practice and further add to the depth of our regulatory practice."

John Morris, Partner and Global Head of Projects & Construction at Clyde & Co, adds: "Our Australian practice is an integral part of our global projects & construction offering and continues to go from strength-to-strength. Jacinta's arrival will further cement our position as the go-to firm for contentious and non-contentious construction law advice in real estate, infrastructure and construction."

Jacinta is the third partner to join Clyde & Co in Australia in 2018. Earlier in the year the firm appointed Real Estate Partner, Cameron Thomson and Insurance, Risk & Cybersecurity Partner, John Moran. Since launching in Australia in 2012 with 4 partners in 2 offices, the firm has grown to 26 partners and more than 200 staff across 4 offices.

Jacinta starts at Clyde & Co on 1 September 2018.
