Jonathan is an Associate in the firm's Marine and International Trade department.

He has experience of conducting and resolving disputes in the English High Court and Court of Appeal, as well as numerous arbitrations under the LMAA and LCIA terms. Jonathan has acted for a range of ship owners, charterers and some of the world's largest commodities houses in a variety of charterparty and sale contract disputes.

Jonathan also regularly advises some of the world's largest technology, logistics and freight forwarding companies in relation to a broad range of international commercial agreements, particularly in the logistics and freight forwarding sectors, and regulatory issues surrounding the transport of goods by sea and by land.

Jonathan also has experience of more general commercial and insurance litigation.

  • Evergreen Marine (UK) Limited vs Nautical Challenge Ltd [2018] EWCA Civ 2173: Jonathan assisted in representing the successful Respondent in relation to this widely reported appeal on the application of the collision regulations and the apportionment of liability for a collision off Jebel Ali;
  • Advising one of the world's largest commodities trading houses in relation to an LCIA arbitration concerning the sale and shipment of iron ore pellets;
  • Advising a number of international shipping and trading companies in relation to various LMAA arbitrations;
  • Advising one of the world's largest technology companies in relation to the regulatory requirements for the international carriage of goods both by sea and by road;
  • Advising one of the world's largest logistics and freight forwarding companies in relation to various international logistics contracts;
