Global law firm Clyde & Co has today announced the launch of its North American Specialty and Investigations team.

It will advise insurance clients on matters that require investigative and risk expertise as well as the ability to act in a variety of legal contexts and forums.

One of the primary focuses for the team is specie, fine art and high-value cargo matters. It has diverse experience in those fields, conducting investigations and litigation in state and federal civil, bankruptcy and criminal proceedings throughout the United States.

Clyde & Co's North American Specialty and Investigations team collaborates with the rest of the firm's global network, across more than 50 offices worldwide – including 12 in North America.

Owen B. Carragher, partner in New York and leader of the North American Specialty and Investigations team at Clyde & Co, comments: “Specie, fine art and high-value cargo present a variety of risk issues and tend to move internationally. Having a team of dedicated lawyers that can bring market-leading expertise to these often complex matters as part of globally connected law firm should prove a clear advantage for our clients.”

  • Scientific investigations into the causes of damage to sculptures by a renowned artist.
  • The seizure of antiquities by law enforcement.
  • The investigation and recovery of stolen diamonds worth more than USD 44 million.
  • A coverage investigation in connection with a claim by a gold refiner, which uncovered one of the largest money-laundering schemes in US history.
  • Advising investors in connection with the purchase of fine art and specie assets.

Carragher and comprises Peter Rossi, Troy Shulman and Lauren Boulbol in New York, Alexander Ross in Chicago, Jorge Maza in Miami, Ada Wittenberger in Montreal, Jeanine Tede in San Francisco and Stacey Rufe in Washington, DC.
