Clyde & Co ranked top for commercial disputes in the Courts of England and Wales

Solomonic draws on proprietary machine learning and input from qualified practitioners to track cases in the High Courts of England & Wales. Across 2020 in the Queen's Bench and Chancery Division courts (excluding insolvency and personal injury cases), Clyde & Co is ranked as the firm with the most new claims brought (75), and also the most claims defended (72), in both instances finishing 24 cases ahead of second place.

Clyde & Co is also ranked joint top in a ranking of law firms’ involvement in the 200 highest value claims of 2020, with 16 cases, and fifth for estimated average claim value.

Commenting on the rankings, Ben Knowles, Co-Chair of Clyde & Co's Global Arbitration Group and Chair of the Dispute Resolutions Practice Group, says: "This ranking is a huge credit to all those involved in commercial disputes in our core sectors across the UK at Clyde & Co. But it's also a vindication for the strength of the London courts to stage significant international disputes as we move to a post-Brexit and post-COVID world, with the volume and diversity of claims highlighted by Solomonic's data clear to see".

Solomonic's rankings are echoed by separate analysis from The Lawyer's Litigation Tracker, which ranked Clyde & Co as the third most active law firm in the English and Welsh courts by number of cases, and the second most active by case days, in its 2019/20 edition.

Moreover, the rankings come as the High Court case Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation Limited v Serious Fraud Office, Dechert and Neil Gerrard, in which partners Richard Harrison, Charles Kuhn and Niya Phiri are acting for Dechert LLP and Neil Gerrard, has been recognised by The Lawyer in its Top 20 cases of 2021 – a rundown of the most eagerly-anticipated cases in the UK courts this year. It also follows recognition for insurance disputes partner Louisa Robbins, who was named in The Lawyer's Hot 100 list.

Clyde & Co is one of the world's leading disputes law firms operating across the world carrying out complex national, international and cross border litigation, arbitration and mediation work across jurisdictions and arbitral centres in emerging and developed markets and on all types and size of dispute. One of the world's top 25 disputes firms by revenue and with the largest disputes practice in London, the firm draws upon its deep sector roots to provide focused dispute resolution services in the construction, energy, marine, trade and insurance sectors.
