Barlow Lyde & Gilbert LLP (BLG) has today (27 September) occupied a further four floors of its existing premises in Chancery Place, Manchester, following the arrival of 18 partners and over 200 staff from Halliwells this July.

BLG now has over 250 people operating out of Manchester, working predominantly on contentious insurance matters, including casualty, professional indemnity and commercial risk.

The team from Halliwells – already well on the road to integration with BLG’s existing top-ranked casualty and healthcare team – broadly focuses on the following areas of work: catastrophic injury, disease, police, employer’s liability, public liability, environment and pollution, fraud, health and safety, product liability, property and motor.

BLG now occupies 41,000 sq ft over five floors of Chancery Place, which is situated at the heart of Manchester’s business district. Despite a compressed timetable of only six weeks, the fit-out project was completed both on time and on budget.

BLG Senior Partner Simon Konsta said: “It’s a tribute to the effort and professionalism of our facilities and IT teams that we have managed to get so many new colleagues up and running in Chancery Place in such a short timescale.

“Having our Manchester operation housed under one roof will help us continue to offer our clients the efficient and flexible service we know they want.

“We have a clear strategy to continue building our position as one of the leading providers of legal services to the insurance industry. Our commitment to our offices outside London – both in the UK and abroad –  is an integral part of this, strengthens our position in our core sector, and extends the breadth of our offering to clients.“
