Global law firm Clyde & Co has today announced the hire of Dutsadee Dutsadeepanich as Partner in Bangkok. This expansion follows the opening of the firm’s Bangkok office earlier this year and the hires of Partner Ian Johnston and Legal Director Sorawat Wongkaweepairot. It underlines the firm’s focus on Thailand and across the fast-growing ASEAN region and adds to its strong offering of over 350 legal professionals in the APAC region.
Dutsadee Dutsadeepanich is a Thai litigator with over a decade of experience in cross-border litigation and international arbitration, including complex commercial matters, construction disputes, energy conflicts, aviation, infrastructure and transportation matters. Having previously worked with Herbert Smith Freehills and ASEAN’s large regional firm Tilleke & Gibbins, Dutsadee most recently co-founded law firm ABER Law Group. She has a strong track record of handling disputes for Thai state-owned entities as well as acting on Thai insurance disputes.
Dutsadee sits on the Panel of Arbitrators of the Beihai Asia International Arbitration Centre (BAIAC), the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), the Thailand Arbitration Centre (THAC), the Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI) and is on the list of Arbitrators of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC). She has also been appointed as an arbitrator in several domestic and international arbitration cases. Dutsadee is the Secretary of the Thailand branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the ICC Young Arbitration & ADR Forum (YAAF) representative (South Asia), and a visiting lecturer at several universities.
Simon McConnell, Partner, Chair of the APAC Board, Hong Kong, comments: “Bangkok is a key hub in the region, a vital one for our regional and global insurer clients as well as many energy, construction, and transportation clients. This hire will support our clients and further our offering across our key sectors in ASEAN.”
Dutsadee Dutsadeepanich comments: “Clyde & Co is a premium brand for insurance and its other key sectors such as aviation, transportation and infrastructure on a global scale, and I look forward to using the network across the region as a platform to offer globally connected services to clients in ASEAN and beyond.”
Thomas Choo, Managing Partner, Singapore, adds: “Dutsadee joins a firm that has been operation in Asia for over four decades. Being part of our large team of leading practitioners across the region will enable her to capitalise on her existing practice with a view to further growth, for the benefit of our other practices and our clients.”
Clyde & Co first opened in Asia Pacific in Hong Kong over 40 years ago, as one of the first international market entrants, and the firm has had a presence in Singapore for over 30 years. Last year, Clyde & Co celebrated ten years in Australia, which has grown to be the third-largest jurisdiction by revenue in FY21/22. In Asia, the firm’s Westlink Joint Law Venture in Mainland China, and the Clasis Joint Law Venture in Singapore, are also celebrating their 10thanniversary this year. Through these Joint Law Ventures the firm is ideally placed to handle local work in the region.
