Michelle Penn is a London partner and the head of strategic delivery within our disease practice group. She leads our occupational disease department in London.

Working closely with regular bodies, she has advised The Law Society (TLS) and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) on key policy developments. She is also a member of the Civil Justice Committee at TLS.

Michelle’s notable work includes the impact of the mesothelioma exception to the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act (LASPO). She was a working party member in TLS’s response to the Löfstedt Review. As chair of its working group, she introduced the mesothelioma annexe to the Disease and Illness Pre-action Protocol. Michelle also assisted TLS in developing an accreditation scheme for disease claims and is now the chief assessor of the scheme.

Michelle regularly speaks at seminars about policy coverage, fraud, disease, and chronic pain.
