Clyde & Co on the move in Tanzania

Clyde & Co has moved into new premises in Dar es Salaam, reflecting the continuing growth of its Tanzania practice.

On 15 October 2012, the firm moved from Exim Tower to an office double the size in Golden Jubilee Towers.

The Dar es Salaam team consists of UK- and Tanzanian-qualified lawyers and includes three partners, one legal director, seven associates and two trainees. The team is supported by the firm's wider Africa group.

The managing director of Clyde & Co Tanzania, Kibuta Ongwamuhana, said: "Clyde & Co has been active in East Africa for over 20 years and is now the largest international law firm in Tanzania. We expect the firm to continue to grow here as the country's economy matures and thrives."

Clyde & Co legal director Peter Kasanda said: "Tanzania is poised for significant economic growth in the coming years, fuelled by foreign direct investment in the energy sector as well as a series of planned infrastructure projects. As our practice has expanded, we have invested heavily in our team and new premises."

The team recently advised Econet Wireless Global Limited on securing a US$362million financing for its telecoms operations in Zimbabwe and Burundi as well as Australian-listed company Peak Resources on the acquisition of a Tanzanian mining company.
