Clyde & Co's Tariff Tracker: March edition

Clyde & Co’s Tariff Tracker provides an overview of all trade restrictions imposed or announced by the US and against the US.

Following the US Supreme Court's February 20th, 2026 decision ruling that tariffs imposed by President Trump were unlawful, Clyde & Co has paused updates to its Tariff Tracker. We will resume and advise clients once the implications (including any replacement measures and refund processes) become clearer.

The March updates on the tariff tracker including updates in US tariffs, retaliatory tariffs and any after-effects, are set out below.

16 MARCH 2026

US tariffs

• All earlier IEEPA-based tariffs have been cancelled: On 20 February 2026, the US announced that all additional ad valorem tariffs imposed under earlier IEEPA based tariff actions are terminated. This follows a US Supreme Court ruling that those tariffs exceeded presidential authority. As a result, these tariffs are no longer in effect and will no longer be collected.
• De minimis duty-free treatment remains suspended: Despite the cancellation of the IEEPA tariffs, the US announced on 20 February 2026 that nationwide suspension of duty free de minimis treatment for all countries remains in force. This means that low value imports entering through the international postal network will continue to be subject to duties, regardless of the Supreme Court ruling.
• New temporary import tariff introduced: On 20 February 2026, the US announced that temporary import tariff of 10 percent ad valorem will be imposed on goods entering the US for up to 150 days. This is intended to address what the US describes as “fundamental international payments problems,”. Some goods are exempt due to economic necessity or other statutory tariff regimes.
• Temporary tariff increased to 15%: On 21 February 2026, the US announced that the 10 percent temporary tariff imposed on 20 February 2026 will be raised to 15 percent.

When will the tariffs come into effect?

• Termination of IEEPA tariffs: The additional IEEPA based duties cease immediately and will stop being collected “as soon as practicable”. 
• Continuation of suspension of de minimis treatment: The continuation of already active suspension that has been in effect since 30 July 2025 under Executive Order 14324.
• Temporary import tariffs: The 10 percent temporary import tariff took effect on 24 February 2026 and will apply for up to 150 days. However, the temporary tariff has been increased to 15 percent and likely took effect on 24 February 2026.
