In this special episode of Clyde & Co’s Insurance and Reinsurance Podcast, recorded in connection with the Stoke Mandeville Experience Day, we explore the realities of spinal injury rehabilitation and the powerful role sport can play in recovery.

Hosted by Pamela Jane Riley and Hannah Shaw, the discussion brings together expert perspectives from across physiotherapy, case management and nursing to examine rehabilitation in practice, particularly within a medico-legal context. The episode looks beyond clinical intervention to consider the importance of collaboration, timely and coordinated care, and person-centered approaches that reflect the individual behind the injury. Drawing on real-world experience and case studies, our speakers also highlight the challenges that can arise from fragmented care, delayed rehabilitation and funding constraints, as well as the value of sport in supporting physical recovery, mental wellbeing and social reintegration.

We are grateful to our external speakers, Kathryn Rowe (Harrison Associates), Rosina Baldwin (RTW Plus) and Julia Waldron (Tessa Gough Associates) for sharing their expertise and insights, and for contributing to such a thoughtful and informative discussion.
