Clyde & Co promotes Cecily Scutt to Partner, strengthening aviation finance practice

Global law firm Clyde & Co today announces the promotion of Cecily Scutt to Partner in its Aviation Finance practice in London, effective 1 September 2026.

The promotion reflects the firm's continued investment in its global aviation offering and further strengthens its ability to support clients across the aviation sector as they navigate an increasingly complex operating environment, evolving financing structures and growing cross-border transactional activity.

Cecily specialises in aviation finance and leasing, advising lenders, leasing companies, airlines and private equity firms on the financing, acquisition, leasing and trading of aircraft, engines and aviation assets. Since joining Clyde & Co in 2021, she has played a key role in supporting clients on sophisticated international transactions and developing the firm's aviation finance practice.

She advises a broad range of leading aviation finance market participants and is recognised for her technical expertise, commercial approach and ability to deliver practical solutions on complex matters involving aircraft and engine portfolios across multiple jurisdictions.

The aviation sector continues to face significant opportunities and challenges, driven by fleet modernisation, ongoing aircraft supply constraints, evolving financing structures and increasing demand for air travel across key global markets. Against this backdrop, aviation finance remains a critical enabler of growth and investment across the industry.

Cecily's promotion further enhances Clyde & Co's ability to support clients across the full spectrum of aviation finance matters, combining market-leading transactional expertise with the firm's wider capabilities in aviation insurance, disputes, regulatory and commercial advisory work.

Norman Fraser, Partner and Global Head of Aviation Finance at Clyde & Co, said:

"Cecily's promotion reflects both her outstanding contribution to our practice and our continued investment in aviation finance globally. She is an exceptional lawyer with deep technical expertise, strong commercial judgement and trusted relationships across the aviation industry."

"As the aviation sector responds to evolving market dynamics, financing demands and growth opportunities, clients increasingly require integrated and commercially focused advice. Cecily is ideally placed to support them through these challenges and opportunities, and I am delighted to welcome her to the partnership."

Beyond her client work, Cecily plays an important role in developing talent across the practice and fostering collaboration across the firm's global aviation platform. She regularly works with colleagues across aviation finance, insurance, disputes and regulatory teams to deliver seamless support to clients operating internationally. As a former captain of Surrey's senior women's cricket team she has been recognised for her leadership abilities outside of work and currently coaches the Spanish women's national cricket team.

Cecily Scutt said:

"Clyde & Co has one of the most respected aviation practices in the world and I have been fortunate to work alongside outstanding colleagues and clients throughout my career.

"I am excited to join the partnership and look forward to continuing to support our clients as they navigate an evolving market, while helping to drive the continued growth of our aviation finance practice globally."
